How to Find All RDR2 Legendary Animals

Here are some quick facts about Legendary Animals and Fish in Red Dead 2.

Each Legendary Animal and Legendary Fish is the apex of their species, and are found in a specific location in the world. Legendary Animals and Fish won't just walk up to you - they'll require a good deal of tracking, hunting, and baiting to appear. Sometimes they will result in a difficult and deadly encounter - especially when hunting Legendary predators.

Once killed, it's important to hang on to the body: Skinning it will yield a Legendary Pelt, which can be traded with the Trapper at any of his locations to craft special and unique Outfits. Legendary beasts can also yield fangs and other items that can be traded to a Fence to procure rare Talismans which boost your powers.

Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) Legendary Animals Locations Map

There are 16 Legendary Animals (RDR2) to hunt throughout New Hanover, Ambarino, Lemoyne and New Austin. Use the map and links below for a guide to each.

1. Legendary Alligator
   The Legendary Alligator can be found to the south of Lagras, in the marshy swamps west of Lakay in the Bayou Nwa region of Lemoyne. Skinning this alligator will reward you with the Legendary Alligator Skin and Legendary Alligator Tooth.
2. Legendary Bear
   Find the Legendary Bear in the clearing to the north of the lake at O'Creagh's Run in the Grizzlies East region of Ambarino. You can first obtain the Legendary Bear pelt and Legendary Bear Claw after completing the mission Exit Pursued by a Bruised Ego in Chapter 2.
3. Legendary Beaver
   The Legendary Beaver is found just southeast of Elysian Pool, due west of the Van Horn Trading Post. Skinning it rewards you with the Legendary Beaver Pelt and Legendary Beaver Tooth.
4. Legendary Boar
   You'll find the Legendary Boar around the northwest section of Bluewater Marsh, at the northern edge of the Bayou Nwa region of Lemoyne. Skinning it grants the Legendary Boar Pelt and Legendary Boar Tusk.
5. Legendary Buck
   You'll find the Legendary Buck in the black bone forest at the western foot of Mt. Shan, northwest of Strawberry in West Elizabeth. The Legendary Buck pelt is valuable, and the Legendary Buck Antler trinket is great to get early on as it increases the quality of all your skins.
6. Legendary Cougar
   You can huntthe Legendary Cougarwest of Tumbleweed in Gaptooth Ridge in New Austin. Killing and skinning it earns you the Legendary Cougar Pelt and the Legendary CougarClaw.
7. Legendary Coyote
   The Legendary Coyote can be hunted near the west end of Dewberry Creek, northwest of Rhodes in the Scarlett Meadows region of Lemoyne.
8. Legendary Elk
   You'll hunt the Legendary Elkin the woods due east of Bacchus Station, to the north-east of Fort Wallace, on the border of New Hanover and Ambarino. Skin it to earn the Legendary Elk Pelt and Legendary Elk Antler.
9. Legendary Fox
   The Legendary Foxcan be found just east of Mattock Pond, to the north of Rhodes in Lemoyne. It drops the Legendary Fox Pelt and Legendary Fox Claw when skinned.
10. Legendary Moose
    You'll find the Legendary Moose in the far northeast corner of the map, by following the train tracks north from Annesburg or heading up the river from Brandywine Drop in Roanoke Ridge. Skinning it unlocks the Legendary Moose Pelt and Legendary Moose Antler.
11. Legendary Panther
    To unlock this legendary hunt, you must first complete 9 Master Hunter challenges. Once you do, you can find the Legendary Panther in the woods south of Bolger Glade, west of Shady Belle. Skin the panther to earn the Legendary Panther Skin and Legendary Panther Eye.
12. Legendary Pronghorn
    The Legendary Pronghorncan be found in New Austin, to the east and slightly south of Fort Mercer. Skinning it grants you the Legendary Pronghorn Hide and Legendary Pronghorn Horn.
13. Legendary Ram
    You'll be able to find the Legendary Ramin the hills just north of the railroad, slightly east of Cattail Poind, across the Dakota River to the east of Valentine. Obtain the Legendary Ram Hide and Legendary Ram Horn by skinning it.
14. Legendary Tatanka Bison
    You'll find the Legendary Tatanka Bisonin Hennigan's Stead, south of Stillwater Creek. Skin it to earn the Legendary Tatanka Bison Pelt and Legendary Tatanka Bison Horn.
15. Legendary White Bison
    The Legendary White Bisoncan be hunted along the north shore of Lake Isabella, in the Grizzlies West region of Ambarino. It provides the Legendary White Bison Pelt and Legendary Bison Horn when skinned.
16. Legendary Wolf
    The Legendary Wolf can be hunted and skinned in and around Cotorra Springs, to the southwest of the Wapati Reservation and across the Dakota north of Fort Wallace. Its skin rewards you with the Legendary Wolf Pelt and Legendary Wolf Heart.

Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) Legendary Fish Locations Map

There are 13 Legendary Fish to catch throughout the world of Red Dead Redemption 2. You can obtain a map with the locations of all of the fish by speaking to Jeremy Gill and starting the Stranger quest A Fisher of Fish on the pier along the north-east shore of Flat Iron Lake.

1. Legendary Bluegill
   The Legendary Bluegill can be found south of Clemens Point off the shore of Flat Iron Lake. You will discover it if you accept Kieran's offer to go fishing during Chapter 3. To catch the Legendary Bluegill, use a Special Lake Lure.
2. Legendary Catfish
   The Legendary Catfish can be fished for in the creek deltas to the west of Sisika Penitentiary on Sisika Island. Use a Special River Lure to catch this fish.
3. Legendary Chain Pickerel
   To catch the Legendary Chain Pickerel, use a Special River Lure along the Dakota running northwest of Flatneck Station.
4. Legendary Gar
   The Legendary Gar can be found in the marshy swamp between Lakay and Lagras in the Bayou Nwa region of Lemoyne. Use the Special Swamp Lure to catch this fish.
5. Legendary Largemouth Bass
   You can fish for this Legendary Largemouth Bass southeast of Lake Don Julio, on the shore of the San Luis River in New Austin. Use a Special River Lure to catch this fish.
6. Legendary Muskie
   To catch the Legendary Muskie, head to the lighthouse at the south end of the Van Horn Trading Post in New Hanover and use a Special River Lure.
7. Legendary Perch
   You'll find the Legendary Perch swimming in Elysian Lake, southwest of Annesburg in the Roanoke Ridge region of New Hanover. Use a Special Lake Lure to catch this fish.
8. Legendary Redfin Pickerel
   You can fish for the Legendary Redfin Pickerel in the largest pool of Stillwater Creek, between Thieve's Landing and MacFarlane's Ranch in New Austin. Use the Special Lake Lure to catch this fish.
9. Legendary Rock Bass
   You'll find the Legendary Rock Bass in the Aurora Basin, at the head of the Lower Montana River to the west of Manzanita Trading Post in the Tall Trees region of West Elizabeth. Use a Special Lake Lure for this fish.
10. Legendary Salmon
    The Legendary Salmon swims in the cold waters of Lake Isabella, far to the northwest of Valentine in the Grizzlies West region of Ambarino.
11. Legendary Smallmouth Bass
    You can catch the Legendary Smallmouth Bass with a Special Lake Lure in Lake Owanjila, to the west of Strawberry between the Big Valley and Tall Trees regions of West Elizabeth.
12. Legendary Sturgeon
    Fish for this Legendary Sturgeon by dropping a Special River Lure off the railroad bridge over the mouth of the Lannahechee River (or rowing out a boat), between Saint Denis and Rhodes in the southern part of Lemoyne.
13. Legendary Trout
    The Legendary Trout can be found in the basin far north of Annesburg, in the northeast corner of New Hanover, up the Kamassa River from Brandywine Drop. Use a Special River Lure to catch this fish.
